House of Cards recap: Season 6, Episode 8

season 6 of house of cards

Weirder still was that she was able to foil a supposedly elaborate assassination conspiracy from within her own government by pointing out the would-be killer—a soldier carrying a nuclear briefcase—and having him taken away by the Secret Service. These plot conveniences happened, quite obviously, to clear the stage for the final showdown between Claire and Doug, the only two major characters still in the mix. Ending on Claire killing Doug, saying, “There, no more pain,” and then looking villainously into the camera is so very House of Cards. The tone, delivery, and direction of the scene suggest something shocking and substantial, but there’s not much there underneath. This season didn’t give us a reason to care, instead running out the clock and asking us to be satisfied with guessing who might survive until the end.

More on Drama

In regards to his character Frank Underwood, the main character of the show has been killed off-screen as Spacey did not return to set to film a death scene. We know Frank has died as Netflix released a teaser trailer for season 6 and we see his wife Claire standing over his gravestone. And yet, as the final moments of the House of Cards series finale reveals, the ultimate fate of Frank Underwood, his many schemes and those who carried them out on his behalf is finally revealed. The former president wasmurdered, but not by Claire, whose complicity in the matter is teased throughout the season.

Dead Again House

As a huge fan of The Golden Girls seeing their “Miami” house in person was a thrill! I recently had the opportunity to see the inside of the home when it went on sale as it turns out that I knew the realtor. I wasn’t feeling well the day I was supposed to go so I had to pass on the experience. I know it doesn’t look like the set but getting to go inside such an iconic house is a rare chance. This house is within walking distance from Fox Studios where the show was filmed so that worked out well for them.

Father of the Bride House

While you can go to the drive-in, the trailer is not there. The Gamble House in Pasadena is one of my favorite homes to visit. It is filled with fascinating details and a tour is well worth your time. I recommend visiting The Gamble House to admire the architecture and history as much as I recommend visiting it as a filming location.

You won't find the porch swing or Fonzie's motorcycle parked on the front lawn, but, otherwise, the Happy Days house looks much the same as it did. You may find a private security guard driving around the neighborhood, though. Several houses in the Los Angeles area provided locations for some of your favorite TV shows. All of the houses on this list are private residences, not tourist attractions. Please behave the same way you'd want people to act around your own house.

Movie and TV Show Houses in Century City

It comments on several pieces of legislation, including the Equal Rights Amendment. But whatever form that panic took, it has manifested in a season of television that is at least 75 percent about Frank Underwood, despite the fact that he never once appears. Its eight episodes comprise a centerless, ham-handed kludge of a season, one that keeps beating you over the head with music and ACTING and plot twists to try to convince you everything that’s happening is Important. And then it ends in a series finale that feels more incomplete than anything since Dexter Morgan took to the woods to become a lumberjack.

But, as the scene unfolds, it’s clear that the show doesn’t have much left to say. If we were discussing what single major issue adversely impacted this final season of House of Cards the most — and boy is there a lot to choose from — the decision to center so much of the story on Frank Underwood would have to be in the conversation. When allegations of sexual misconduct against Kevin Spacey saw him removed from the show, the writers had to quickly pivot away from their original final season arc that would have seen Frank and Claire battling for power. That’s no easy task, and choosing to kill Frank off screen makes a lot of sense.

The raw idea that Claire has to somehow break the patriarchy’s back to have any chance at success isn’t a bad idea to build the final season around. It’s almost a fascinating dissection of pop feminism, of the idea that something is feminist solely because it centers on a “strong woman,” no matter what other values it peddles. You can see my photos of various movies and TV show houses from my visit to the Warner Bros Ranch. The house pictured is where the Heck family lived in The Middle. The craftsman-style house is located near downtown Long Beach. North of Long Beach in San Pedro you can find the spot that was used for the school Anchor Beach on the series which you can read about in this post.

For instance, the story of Annette and Bill’s relationship, and how they’ve grown apart from each other as Bill gets sicker, never goes anywhere. Bill doesn’t die, and there’s no final resolution when it comes to the Shepherds and their feud with Claire. Plus there’s Seth, who has no story, and Janine, who just promises to keep digging. Cody Fern has joined House of Cards Season 6, reports TV Line. The up-and-coming Aussie actor will reportedly join the cast as a series regular.

I am going to be honest and admit that I have never seen an episode of Mad Men. But, I can’t pass up the opportunity to visit a famous filming location. The Mad Men house is actually walking distance from the Father Of The Bride house. This list will continue to be updated as I visit more filming locations. Be sure to check back to see what else gets added to this list.

All six seasons of House of Cards are streaming on Netflix.

Fern was rumored to join the cast earlier as a potential love interest for Kevin Spacey’s Frank Underwood before the star’s own proverbial house of cards collapsed. However, other than the role’s “modified” regular status, no other details have been revealed about Fern’s character. Thus, it will be interesting to see if the previously rumored dynamic sticks, only minus Frank, obviously. It throws everything it can think of into the audience’s field of vision because it seems terrified to simply tell a story about the fates of the few established characters it has left. And maybe that’s because House of Cards always wanted its final season to be about...

Several homes get a little bit of a transformation for their on-screen appearance. However, I think one of the homes that looks the most different is the house from Pee Wee’s Big Adventure. Over the years the color of the house has changed several times, the white picket fence is gone, but the unique shape is still recognizable. The House from Pee Wee’s Big Adventure is located at 1848 Oxley Street in South Pasadena. I wish I could visit the iconic Braverman house that Zeke and Camile owned on Parenthood but that was built on the Universal Backlots. However, there are locations where the many other characters lived that can be visited.
